Audition Information

Welcome to Audition Season!

We are so excited to launch auditions for our fall production of Alice in Wonderland! Stepping out to audition or apply for crew is an extraordinary act of courage and creative expression. Whether you are aiming for a spot on stage or behind the scenes, we can’t wait to see your passion shine.

 

Opportunities & Eligibility

To help your student find their best fit in Wonderland, please review our production pathways:

  • Acting Roles: Open exclusively to Theatre Academy students.

  • Tech Crew Positions: Open to ALL Academy students! Space on tech crew is limited, but please note that additional crew positions will open for our Spring production if your student is not placed this Fall.

 

Essential Details & Production Requirements

Please review these important requirements as you prepare your application:

  • Fair & Unbiased Selection Process: Cast and crew decisions are made by a carefully selected panel of Academy teachers chosen specifically to minimize bias and give every single student an equal opportunity to excel.

  • Flexible Preferences: On the audition form, students will select their preferred roles and indicate whether they will accept any role or only specific ones. We strongly encourage checking "Accept Any Position." Limiting preferred roles limits personal growth—keeping an open mind is often how students discover brand-new talents and passions!

  • No Pass, No Play: In alignment with our extracurricular participation agreement, all participating students must maintain an 80 or higher in every class to remain eligible for production.

 

Audition & Callback Dates:

  • Auditions: Thursday, August 27th | 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

  • Callbacks: Friday, August 28th | 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

  • Student Pickup: Doors 22 & 24 (standard after-school pickup location).

  • Note: Being called back is simply an opportunity for the panel to see a bit more from a student to place them properly—it is not a guarantee or requirement for casting.

 

Production Fees & Required Items:

  • Fees: All participants pay a participation fee specific to their assigned role (acting or tech).

  • Scripts: Physical scripts are not provided by the department, but can be purchased at https://www.dramaticpublishing.com/browse/alice-in-wonderland

  • Costumes & Apparel: Actors pay a nominal dry cleaning fee for show costumes, and parents may need to supply basic base elements (communicated upon casting). Tech crew members must supply their own "Theatre Blacks" (head-to-toe black shirt, pants, socks, and shoes compliant with the school dress code).

  • Personal Inventory Tote (P.I.T.): All cast and crew members must provide a personal storage tote for the run of the production.

  • Signed Production Contract & ECC: All students involved must sign the production contract and district required ECC (extracurricular code of conduct) form. These will be distributed once the Cast & Crew have been decided.

 

Ownership of the Process

This experience is designed to foster accountability, ensemble teamwork, and creative independence. Students are expected to take ownership of their audition preparation by filling out their own audition forms, managing their academic eligibility, and stepping up with confidence during audition week. We trust our students to show up, give their best effort, and support one another!
